The Jones lab at the University of Manitoba is recruiting graduate students and a data analyst!
Graduate students
We have a variety of projects available for MSc or PhD in epigenetics of environmental exposures. Examples include:
Chromatin accessibility studies of lung samples from mice exposed to cigarette smoke.
You would learn: ATAC-seq sample prep and data analysis, data visualization, advanced bioinformatics
Probably best suited for a MSc
Prenatal exposure studies using cannabis smoke in mice.
You would learn: animal handling and management, project management, pyrosequencing, DNA methylation microarrays, lung physiology and inflammation measurements
Probably best suited for a PhD
Cell culture and animal studies of dioxin exposure
Wide variety of projects available, skills similar to projects above.
What are we looking for?
Enthusiasm and interest in epigenetics and/or DOHaD
Ability to learn and adapt
Enthusiastic about working with a diverse team
Willingness to work with animals for animal-related projects
Previous experience in lab work is a bonus but all training will be provided.
This staff position will work with Jones lab members to support data analysis, while working on an independent project using human cohort DNA methylation data. Possible project topics include: diabetes, maternal diabetes exposure, and dioxin exposure.
